Fred L. Robinson was born on June 24, 1889 in Philadelphia, Tennessee. He arrived in Montana in May 1911 and established a ranch in Phillips County, north of Wagner. He also worked for a time with the Bureau of Reclamation and then purchased a general store in Wagner. He served in World War I, and then after the war was elected Phillips County assessor.
